About Us

Jennifer Furr was like many busy moms in America – a wife, mother of two, corporate employee, community volunteer and scrapbook enthusiast. But, unlike many moms in this economy, Furr decided to leave her steady job in a sea of cubes to pursue a dream – bringing a product to market that she couldn’t find in the retail world. Furr founded Picture That Sound to fill an unmet need in the US memory-keeping market.

The company’s first product pairs a photo matte with a recordable device for sound. Furr describes being pregnant with her second child and wanting to capture the ultrasound image with the heartbeat sound in her scrapbook album.

“There are so many sounds that we take for granted, that we think we’ll always remember. Sometimes I close my eyes and picture a sound in my head, like my toddler’s giggle, my grandmother singing, or even my husband snoring. We provide a product that allows you to capture a photo and an audio snapshot of that memory, all in one.”

Each 5” x 7” Picture That Sound paper card features a creative but simple photo matte with a high-quality built-in recording device. The colorful card gives the memory keeper an inspirational starting point to record sound, add images, embellishments, and handwriting. The result? A unique family heirloom to be used in scrapbooks or as a stand-alone custom piece of art.

The card also features 20 seconds of recording time, archival-quality acid-free and lignin-free paper, an easy-slide battery tray for simple replacement and a pull-tab to prevent accidental over-recording. The archival paper, replaceable batteries, and high-quality memory chip ensure the card will last for generations.

A strict philosophy guides the company’s priorities, including putting customer service and quality first while offering affordable products that women will use in any economy.

“My corporate experience taught me that to be successful, you must put yourself in the shoes of your customer,” says Furr. “While walking in those strappy sandals, I realized that many products I’d purchased before seemed fun at the time, but when I returned home, I needed help on how to use them,” describes Furr. “I spent months in manufacturing and lots of hours talking with customers to create a user-friendly product that will ensure the customer will finish her project.”

Furr envisions a pregnant mom taking the card to her ultrasound appointment and then pairing it with the ultrasound pictures. She sees a young man recording his marriage proposal to his new bride and one day sharing it with their children. She also imagines parents recording their son’s first piano recital and pairing that sound with the picture of him in a coat and tie. Customers can visit the Picture That Sound website which features a forum for people to share ideas and gain new ones.

Each Picture That Sound package includes two recordable cards. Themes include pregnancy, birthday, wedding, performance and gender-specific designs for boys and girls.

Picture That Sound LLC was founded in 2009 to grow a “customer first” life-experience company that creates, markets and delivers products that help people preserve memories pairing picture with sound. Company creator Jennifer Furr, resides in Raleigh, NC, with her husband, Carl, and two daughters, Logan and Addison.
